Blog Session 7

Today is a free post so I'm going to talk about an orphan elephant and his dog friend.

This elephant called Bubbles was save from the ivory hunters in Africa and Bubbles was move to "Myrtle Beach Safari" a park which takes care about the conservation of the wild life, this place is located in South California.

When Bubbles was found their parents were already dead, according to the news this hunt was a massacre. When Bhagavan Antle (the director of the park) went there to take care of an orphan elephant, He found this little elephant of 340 pounds and 42 inch. Bubbles was one of a few elephants who were taken to USA and the rest of them just died because the lack of help.

Bella a Labrador dog lived in the park before Bubbles arrived. Since then Bubbles plays with Bella. Now Bubbles has 32 years old and Bella has 3 years old.

In fact, Bubbles is a famous elephant, he play a role in "Ace Ventura 2" and others movies.

Blog Session 6

Today I have to do a summary about a new related to my studies.

So I took this news http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/architecture-design-blog/2013/aug/01/rio-2016-olympic-urban-plan-legacy and it is about the planning of the next Olympics games. Also I saw other column about some similarities between designs, one from the Olympic ceremony in London and the other from a design student of 2005.

I choose it, because it's related with the idea of confront an unusual place for a spectacle and all the creation of this place and their functionality.

Summary:

The Rio 2016 Olympics. 

The next Olympics Games will be in Brazil and the Olympics architects revealed that it will be placed over a lagoon.

But there is a big difference between London and Rio, because Brazil is an emerging nation so they have to do more things in less time than they did in London.

This project is on the hands of Aecom, an initial of Architecture, Engineering, Consulting, Operations and Maintenance, but they include a lot of others jobs. It's a huge company with at least 45.000 workers, offices in different sides of the world. They have all the required disciplines for building a city, because the games at the moment aren't just games, also involves an urban regeneration in the place.

Beside the time factor, they have a good point as the place is about the half of the size of London's and they don't have to fix a lot of problems in the places, as pollution or others (But the lake it's too polluted for swimming)

The Olympics games will be across five places, from the forest of Docoro to Copacabana beach and the opening and closing shows will be placed in the Maracana Stadium.

Aecom will focus the Olympic park in the district of Barra da Tijuca, crated by Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer. For the kind of architecture in the place it will be easily mixed.

This park will be placed on a flat triangular peninsular which is over Jacarepaguá Lagoon. This is a mixture of leftovers that they will reuse. And it's between two mountains in a valley so they design a "river" that go thought the park, it will have the shape of a snake and it's made of stripes.

Being the host of the Olympic plays gives you transformation on the place (about urbanisms) which is taken as a legacy; and this year is about reduce the national discontent (about the public money spent on the Olympics and the World Cup)

Obviously they have issues with the people who lives around because of the evacuation order and the destruction of their communities and mostly because after the games they place will be for rich people and not for them.

Blog Session 5

Today, also is a free topic so this time I will talk about MythBusters, because I dreamt about something like an usual programme of them... It was something like I had to seed this grass carpet on sand and in sort of challenge against my dad but before that we were walking on a park in front of the Moneda and I didn't notice that the grass in the floor was new and that some people was seeding it, I felt shame about it... The thing is that I was trying to seed on sand and I did a huge mountain of sand and I put the grass in little balls inside it, however I was pretty sure that It wasn't work at the end... and I ended to feel very odd, like if in the end nothing matters but I really don't know if that is the correct interpretation about who I felt at the end.

Well, about the programme! MythBuster is a TV show of scientific divulgation show by Discovery Channel. It is starring by Adam Savage and Jaime Hyneman and They have co workers who helps them, Kari Byron, Grant Imahara and Tony Bellecci. They all have a lot of experience in special effects.

The plot of the show is about to check if the urban legend are true or not by using their knowledge
on special effects.  I think that this kind of job must be so fun and it seems to be, overall when they make things explode in the hollywood way with those gigantic fire balls.

For some technical information, the creator of the show was Peter Resee, the TV show has 12 seasons and 178 chapters of 45 minutes each one and It begun in January of 2003 and It is still on air.

Blog session 4

Hello, today is a free topic so I'm going to talk about the people who can't live without them cell phone.

This era is all about being connected to other people and this connection has to be fast or it doesn't work. So one thing that is very common is to has a cell phone, some people take it as a necessity for been reachable at all time and it could be one with all the comfortably from the era, like a cell phone with Internet connection, camera, games, for texting, music player and a huge memory for doing all this without getting frozen... well-known as smart phones; or a cell phone use just for calling and not all those extra use.

So I understand when someone need to be close to their phone for work or an important call but I really can't understand the people that don't even left the cell phone away for eating, overall when they are eating with other person, I believe that is very impolite. And this behavior gets worst when is nothing important! like when they are just playing or seeing facebook.

This kind of behavior is something that always bring me some trouble when I share with my family or when we eat all together, because I got this uncle and he is always seeing his cell phone so I complain about it at loud and I make that everyone listen why I complain about, and after that everyone complains with him.
And also my mom rent a room to a boy who studies in the PDI and he had that behavior too... but I persuaded him to not to do that by said him that i would broke his cell phone if i see it on the table while we eat.
